I Asked: AI Answered. What are Christian Schools Good for?

As a product of the public school system, now a Senior at a private, Christian college, I have juggled with the difference between public school and private school. I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on how both school systems have shaped me. I decided to ask AI for its thoughts on private schools. I used Chat GPT to answer, “Why should I choose a Christian school for my child?” AI provided me with multiple answers in just seconds. Some highlighted points that it mentioned were as listed:

  1. “Values-Based Education

  2. Spiritual Development

  3. Community and Support

  4. High Academic Standards

  5. Integration of Faith and Learning

  6. Safe and Positive Environment

  7. Parental Involvement”

As a student who has been navigating the difference between public versus private school, this list was surprisingly accurate. I have definitely found that going to a Christian school has played a huge role in my Spiritual development, and learning in a setting where both faith and learning are integrated has both changed and enhanced my life.

Speaking of AI, this leads me to another important aspect of deciding which school is best for your children. The use and the reliance of technology and artificial intelligence in the classroom has rapidly increased. Most kindergarteners in the public school receive a district owned IPad to complete school work in class and for out of class use. In many districts, once the students get to middle school or high school, they then receive a district owned laptop. Technology in the classroom isn’t inherently bad, it just isn’t always helpful or necessary. It should be used as a tool, and it shouldn’t be the primary source of learning.

For me personally, I have found that I thrive more in classrooms that are less reliant on technology and more hands on and personalized. How do you think your children learn best?
